Annual Health Checks

Tom and Terri-Ann are health champions – that means they are dedicated to improving the health of people like them, people with learning disabilities.
In this project, we support them in raising awareness of the importance of annual health checks, which can help reduce health inequalities and even reduce premature deaths.
The video was co-designed with people with learning disabilities from Cwm Taf Morgannwg, along with healthcare professionals and specialists.

“It’s like your car’s MOT, but for your body.”

On average, people with learning disabilities are dying a lot younger than the general population from preventable causes of death. Tom and Terri-Ann talk us through how the process of these checks work, and how they can go a long way in tackling this important health inequality.

The project was also featured on the BBC – click here to read the article!
